With the duration of the government shutdown surpassing a month, Vice President Mike Pence is raging against Democrats for prolonging the shutdown.
On the Fox Business Network, Pence was interviewed by Trish Regan who heard his thoughts on Democrats consistently being unwilling to come to terms with Republicans.
“Washington, D.C., is a place where negotiations take place,” Pence began. “But right now, the Democrats refuse to negotiate. They refuse to even come to the table even though we have a crisis on our southern border.”
“President Trump made a commitment to the American people that we are going to secure our border,” he said pointing out that a physical barrier is part of that commitment.
The VP then sounded off on Pelosi for her recent refusal to consider President Trump’s proposals for ending the shutdown.
“For Speaker Pelosi to reject the president’s proposal before he gave his speech should tell the American people everything they need to know about the posture that Democrats have taken in Washington, D.C.,” Pence noted.
As he closed out the interview, Pence gave one last admonishment, “The time has come for the Democrats to come to the table, bring their ideas, and we will secure our border and reopen the government.”
