Things seem to be slowing down for Phil Bredesen and the Democratic Party when it comes to Tennessee.
Bolstering the party and encouraging the repossession of the Senate, the former governor has been neck and neck with Republican Marsha Blackburn to succeed retiring Republican Senator Bob Corker.
However, despite a highly publicized endorsement by music star Taylor Swift and the rumored swelling of a Democratic Wave, it seems like Bredesen is losing steam.
Recent polls show that Bredesen is losing ground to Blackburn. A New York Times Upshot/Siena College Poll indicated Blackburn topping Bredesen by as many as 14 points. Then a CBS News/YouGov poll depicted Bredesen behind by eight points.
Democrats are in for more of a fight then they would like to admit. Bredesen is a key seat change to help them overturn the Republicans 51-49 advantage. But they also have many of their own states to defend. 10 of which Trump claimed in 2016.
With the DNC’s prime candidate already faltering things look quite secure for Republicans.
