The husband of Democratic congressional candidate Leslie Cockburn showed bad form when he mocked Republican opponent Denver Riggleman’s military service.
Andrew Cockburn has since deleted his tweet where he stated there should be more evidence of Riggleman’s claims that he risked his life in service. He made the comment in response to Riggleman tweeting that he “went overseas to fight and risk his life for his country.”
“‘Risk his life.’ How? Snorkeling off Diego Garcia? We need specifics,” Cockburn had said in his short lived tweet.
The reprehensible comment was prompted when Leslie Cockburn had claimed to have a deeper knowledge of Afghanistan since she went to the country as a journalist. Compared to Riggleman, an Air-Force intelligence officer who contributed to the first bombing missions initiated after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
