Seven victims have been confirmed after a shooting broke out in a California nightclub.
The incident took place at the Sevilla Nightclub in Riverside right after midnight. The club was hosting a Halloween event titled “The First Purge”.
A witness who declined being identified recounted the unsettling event.
“People started falling to the ground, and I thought people were fighting or dancing at first,” the witness told KTLA reporters. “And I turn around, and then people started shooting and then I ran behind the bar … and then all of sudden there was a whole bunch of people crunched up by the exit.”
“And I said, ‘Why isn’t anybody running?’ … then there was just shooting and I heard automatic gunshots. There was like 10 in a row … I was just praying like ‘God get me through this,” he said.
While there has been no concrete motive defined, officials believe it was the result of an altercation.
Currently there have been no resulting fatalities.
