The last vestiges of the legal battle for net neutrality, held over from a 2016 lower court ruling upholding Obama0era regulations, came to a close after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up the issue.
Both Trump’s administration and internet providers has requested that justices remove the ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that had protected the regulations put in place by former President Obama.
The net neutrality repeal is a win for entities like Comcast Corp, AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications INc. It was opposed by internet businesses like Facebook Inc, Amazon.com Inc and Alphabet Inc, which warned the repeal could lead to higher costs.
