After two years in office, President Trump has rightfully taken credit for stock market improvement.
Since his election in November 2016 to the eve of midterms, the S&P 500 has increased 28%. This is the most improvement a president has garnered in 64 years.
The most thorough restructuring of U.S. tax code in 30 years was passed by the Republican party under Trump. Combined with corporate tax cuts corporate earnings have swelled.
However the future seems heavily dependent on the midterm results. If Democrats make significant gains the market may constrict, while if Republicans can keep hold of their majority this trend of increase is likely to continue.
