Pabst Blue Ribbon Company has filed a lawsuit against MillerCoors alleging the latter is forcing the former out of business.
Court documents show that the dispute stems from the idea that MillerCoors intends to end the partnership between the two brands that stipulates MillerCoors package and produce the majority of PBR’s products.
In its defense MillerCoors claims to not have the ability to continue producing the roughly 4.5 million barrels PBR annually requires and that the current deal does not offer enough monetary incentive to continue.
Representatives of PBR say that MillerCoors is being dishonest about it’s capabilities and that in either case could still fulfill PBR’s needs. In any event, PBR states that they are fully dependent on MillerCoors and would cease to function without their support.
The trail is already underway in Milwaukee and should reach a conclusion by the end of the month.
