Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a fool of herself during a conference call with leftist political group Justice Democrats.
It seems that becoming a member of Congress does not require to members to know what the three branches of government are, or that they are called branches.
“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — Uh, rather all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House,” Ocasio-Cortez said during the call.
Most middle school students could tell you that the three BRANCHES of government are: executive, legislative, and judicial.
However when faced with criticism over her remark, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to blast Republicans, tweeting: “Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd [sic], they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make: that they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare.”
The Democratic Socialist appears to think the criticism is strictly in regards to her phrase “three chambers of Congress,” rather than her inability to properly name the branches.
