James Comey, the former director of the FBI, had an interview with MSNBC addressing the legal woes facing Trump.
Comey started by recounting a meeting he had with the president while still presided over the FBI.
“I was telling him what the threat is inside the United States, and I had some pretty hair-raising stuff to tell him, and he seemed distracted,” Comey said.
“He said he wanted to talk about Michael Flynn,” he continued, “and then in substance in that conversation he asked me, which I took as a direction, to let it go.”
“Obviously it’s evidence of obstruction of justice so how to handle that was something we struggled with and we decided to keep it tight,” Comey said while admitting that he didn’t want to impede the current investigation.
Comey related that if Trump didn’t bearing the presidential mantle, he would be “in serious jeopardy of being charged.”
As the interview began to reach a close, Comey called on the public to ensure we didn’t get more Trump in 2020.
“All of us should use every breath we have to make sure the lies stop on January 20, 2021,” Comey said, also stipulating that no matter who the Democrats select as their candidate, “they have to win.”
