It seems that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to get President Trump to postpone his State of the Union address is backfiring spectacularly.
In a letter to the president, Pelosi advised that the president postpone the speech or deliver it only in writing. She cited the continued government shutdown had raised “security concerns.”
Well now she’s getting a taste of her own medicine as Trump has announced that Pelosi’s “seven-day excursion” to foreign countries would now be postponed. The president also cited the government shutdown, reasoning that Pelosi should remain in the U.S. until the government can reopen.
However Trump was willing to give some concessions, offering that if Pelosi would like to make the trip commercially that it would “”certainly be your prerogative.”
