Democrats just can’t stop showing their worst traits when it comes to dealing with President Trump.
Weeks of fighting led to the longest government shutdown in history after they refused to offer any funding for a wall along the United States southern border.
Then, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rescinded her offer for Trump to deliver the State of the Union address at the House chamber. She first claimed there would not be sufficient security, after multiple sources refuted her claim she changed her story to state that it was merely inappropriate to conduct the speech during a shutdown.
Now, despite Trump graciously ending the shutdown and opening talks for negotiating wall funding (which Dems continue to flatly refuse) some Democrats are declaring that they will not be attending the SOTU address.
Representatives John Lewis and Hank Johnson boy expressed that they would not be present.
“I have a problem with defiling the speaker’s chair in the House of Representatives,” Johnson shared with AJC. “I don’t want to see it lowered, as is what happens when Donald Trump comes to our floor and starts talking about groups of people, particularly Latinos, and disparaging them as a people.”
Johnson boiled it down by simply adding, “I’d rather be somewhere else.”
Democrats continue to show that no matter what Trump does to reach an understanding and bring the politicians together, they will continue to deny him out of spite.
