In a delivery from the White House Rose Garden, President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency over security at the southern border of the United States.
Trump noted that funding would be diverted from “far less important” government programs and likely be given to the Army Corps of Engineers.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted an image of what will be known as the historic moment Trump signed the emergency declaration.
In light of this declaration, Trump still expects to face a struggle in getting the wall built from obstructionist Democrats.
Trump shared, “[W]e will have a national emergency. And we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the 9th Circuit, even though it shouldn’t be there. And we will possibly get a bad ruling, and then we’ll get another bad ruling. And then we’ll end up in the Supreme Court, and hopefully, we’ll get a fair shake, and we’ll win in the Supreme Court, just like the ban.”
