Paul Manafort has been sentenced to almost four years in prison over charges that he committed tax and bank fraud. After the sentencing, President Trump shared his feelings on the matter.
“I feel very badly for Paul Manafort. I think it’s been a very, very tough time for him,” Trump began while preparing to leave for tornado torn Alabama.
“If you notice both his lawyer, a highly respected man, and a very highly respected judge, the judge said there was no collusion with Russia. This had nothing to do with collusion there was no collusion. It’s a collusion hoax. It’s a collusion witch hoax. I don’t collude with Russia,” Trump added.
Although this is slightly misleading in that Judge T.S. Ellis didn’t say that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, but rather that the trial at hand involving Manafort was not itself tied to collusion in anyway.
