Dennis Unverferth has been a teacher for over ten years. Well liked by his students and his community, he is considered a model educator. Which is why it’s so surprising that a video he used for teaching has brought charges of racism against him.
When Unverferth failed to attend class one day, his students easily dismissed it as a possible illness keeping him out. But as the days progressed the school principal began to take over Unverferth’s classes. She then informed students that the teacher was on suspension for alleged misconduct and the possibility of his return was being evaluated.
This concerned parents who demanded to know what was going on. Eventually the school answered them saying that Unverferth had “shown a politically/racially inappropriate video to one of his classes, a video that undermines our work as a Catholic school dedicated to principles of social justice.”
So the teacher was being suspended for racism because he showed a video.
That rasied the new question, “What video did he show?”
It was the students who shared his piece of information. They shared that Unverferth has shown a video from PragerU. The title? “Why You Can’t Argue with a Leftist.”
The video in question shows no form of racism. It may show a political bias, but not racism. However it was just used as a teaching aid. It’s the faculty at Catholic parochial school, St. Margaret of Scotland that is displaying a bias in suspending Unverferth.
Now the school has announced that the teacher will not be returning to the school. Parents are incensed not only that such a good teacher was forced out based on lies but also that so little information was voluntarily released.
Although it seems the left-leaning faculty is proving the point of the video all on their own.
