While Democrats tear out their hair trying to invent offenses from the Mueller report, those who actually read it might be surprised to find the report actually reveals how much confidence Trump inspired in his former associates.
Don McGahn signed on to Donald Trump’s campaign as early as 2015, and the lawyer followed Trump all the way to the White House. Despite this the two parted ways last fall to relatively little fanfare.
However, it was McGahn that Trump asked to begin he process of firing special counsel Robert Mueller back in 2017, and McGahn may have saved the president by refusing to do so.
After some thirty hours of interviews with McGahn, Mueller concluded that McGahn’s efforts to dissuade the president effectively halted any process of obstruction that Trump could have began.
A testament to Trump’s character that even during arguments with his administration his former associates continued to defend him.
