In a stunning example of Democratic overreach, one congressman is suggesting extreme action be taken to get Attorney General William Barr’s testimony.
Barr protested the continued witch hunt of himself and President Trump by refusing to show for a second Judiciary Committee interrogation.
Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen took the opportunity to show his lack of grace and good sense when he mocked Barr as a “chicken” putting a rubber chicken figure in the attorney general’s chair and snacking on KFC.
But now Cohen is taking things too far in calling for the sergeant-at-arms to take custody of the United States Attorney General and force him to appear before the House Judiciary Committee.
Anderson Cooper of CNN posed the question to Cohen, “So Chairman Nadler talked about moving to contempt proceedings if the Attorney General doesn’t comply. What does that — what would that actually look like?”
“Well I hope it would be inherent contempt, because in inherent contempt we’d go out and take him, and bring him in, and have him personally brought to the House,” was Cohen’s shocking reply.
Even Cooper was fazed by Cohen’s blatant admission and sought to clarify. “You actually want to send out the sergeant-at-arms and force the attorney general to come?”
“Yes,” Cohen confirmed.
Like his chicken stunt, Cohen seems to be alone in his line of thinking. That doesn’t detract from the indication that the Democrats are becoming increasingly frustrated and even more dangerous because of it.
