America is getting another shot at delivering justice after one Cook County judge made a ruling to set things right.
Dishonored “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett is likely in a panic now that Judge Steven Watkins has ordered the unsealing of documents related to the case.
Smollett’s lawyers had successfully fought to have the records of Smollett’s case sealed after the actor was accused of orchestrating a hate crime against himself to gain publicity and slander supporters of President Trump.
This wasn’t the only suspicious obstruction in the case either.
State Attorney Kim Foxx dismissed all 16 counts of lying to police in an attempt to shield the actor from justice. A move which may cost the attorney 20 years in prison if the documents reveal she can be convicted of corruption.
Also of concern for the guilty parties is that media organizations have filed lawsuits for the newly unsealed documents to be released to the public.
“This is about transparency and trust in the system,” media attorney Natalie Spears said. “We believe the public has a right to know what the government did here and why.”
At long last the chickens are coming home to roost in Chicago.
